A new era of competitive soccer is on the horizon for teams across Kansas and Missouri, as plans are underway for the launch of the KCAFF Super League. This high-stakes in-season tournament is set to bring together the top clubs from multiple regional leagues, providing a new stage for the best teams to showcase their talent. If all goes according to plan, the inaugural season will kick off in 2026, featuring the top finishers from the 2025 season of participating leagues.

A Regional Showcase

The KCAFF Super League aims to unite the best teams from leagues across eastern Kansas and potentially parts of Missouri, creating a platform for inter-league competition at the highest level. The Select League has already been confirmed as one of the featured leagues, while discussions are ongoing with leagues in Lawrence, Topeka, Emporia, and Manhattan. The number of clubs each league contributes will be based on its size, ensuring a balanced and competitive field.

Tournament Structure

The tournament will feature 16 teams and begin with a group stage before transitioning into a knockout phase.

Group Stage

  • 16 teams divided into four groups of four (drawn randomly, with efforts to avoid teams from the same league meeting in the group stage if possible).

  • Each team plays home and away against the other three teams in its group (six matches per team).

  • The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage.

Knockout Stage

  • Quarterfinals: The remaining eight teams compete in two-leg knockout ties.

  • Semifinals: The four winners move on to another two-leg series.

  • Final: A single-match final played at a neutral venue to determine the champion.

A Bright Future for Regional Soccer

The KCAFF Super League will not only provide high-intensity competition but also increase exposure for clubs and players alike. It offers an exciting opportunity for teams to compete beyond their local leagues and test themselves against the best from neighboring regions. With the tournament poised to begin in 2026, the 2025 season will be crucial for clubs hoping to secure their place in what promises to be a landmark competition in local soccer.
